Why Work with Amity Institute?

We have close to 60 years of experience.

Since 1962, Amity Institute has been committed to building international friendship and cultural understanding through teaching exchange. Amity’s longevity has allowed us to learn how to expertly navigate the ins and outs of international exchange. Rest assured, there is no situation we are not prepared for. We are with you every step of the way.

From preparing for your visa appointment, to your very last day in the United States, Amity Institute is here to support you. Each participant is assigned to an individual Program Counselor, whose main responsibility is to ensure that every exchange teacher or intern’s experience goes as smoothly as possible. Simply put, we have your back.

Our reputation is impeccable both internationally and locally.

Amity Institute is currently working with individuals from 25 different countries, with placements in over half the states in the USA. Our visa sponsorship includes approximately 400 interns and 300 exchange teachers. In order to operate on such a broad scale, it is imperative that our reputation is near flawless. We pride ourselves on maintaining excellent relationships with our host schools, screening officers, and communities.

We are a nonprofit organization.

While some organizations have primarily monetary goals, Amity Institute uses all financial gains to further support our mission of cultural exchange.

The Amity community will become your extended family.

Your involvement with Amity Institute does not end when you leave the United States. One of the best parts of our organization is the lifelong relationships that develop after an exchange. Our Team is constantly in touch with Amity Alumni, whether via email or social networks, often receiving updates on their professional development. Many times, our former interns will return to participate years later in our Exchange Teacher program. Other times, we receive messages detailing participant reunions, or host families traveling across the world to see their former intern. In our organization, you are not just a participant, you are a family member.

This experience changed my life! Now, I have more dreams and some other goals. I'm so thankful for everything that I've learned. I want to continue growing as a human and as a teacher. The Amity program is one the best things that ever happened to me." - Michelle, 2018-2019 Intern

We have been working with Amity for several years. Learning about different cultures, communities, traditions, music, arts, dances and more, helps our students to see the world as a global place fostering diversity and respect. Having a second adult in the classroom helps our teachers to be able to have more individualized attention to students and work on small groups. Amity has been a wonderful organization to work with, reliable and accessible, bringing highly qualified young people to work in our school."- Maria Buceta Miller, Amity School Coordinator, John Stanford International School

“I thought I'd share what happened on my birthda “I thought I'd share what happened on my birthday, which is representative of my internship life and my life with my host family so far!

My host family prepared a big box of doughnuts for me to take to school to share with my colleagues! While I was handing out the doughnuts, I wished everyone a happy Lunar New Year and they wished me a happy birthday. The students at school also came to say happy birthday to me during break time and even prepared cards for me!

1/25 was the fourth day of Chinese New Year, so my host family held a " Lunar New Year themed" birthday party for me. We invited other interns to celebrate with us. I was asked to rest in my room while my host family and intern friends decorated the dining room and prepared the food! They even decorated my cake! It was a big surprise for me and made me feel so happy!”

Happy belated birthday, Masako! 🥳We’re happy to see that you’re enjoying your internship and having a wonderful time with your host-family and fellow interns!

What these four wonderful people brought me is beyond words, I will never forget what they mean to me.
More than the Amity program, the beginning of a lifetime adventure...
I adore you so. 💚🌈

I want to share this new experience that I had with my Host Family as well with another Intern Laia from Spain. We went skiing and I could say that was one of the most challenging and fun things I’ve done because I never practiced skiing before and my host mother and Laia taught me how to do it."

Way to go, Glenda and Laia!⛷️❄️
